City Council Decides not to change the Old Town Architectural Review Overlay Zone Boundary
At their July 2nd meeting, the City Council discussed whether it would be an appropriate time for the Planning Commission and City Council to re-examine the boundaries of the Old Town Architectural Review (AR) Overlay Zone, now that the commercial design standards have been adopted. The AR zone generally encompasses all of Old Town from the old Channel House Restaurant to Ferry Creek; the boardwalk and other Port property; and the commercial property along the south side of Highway 101 from Bandon Art Glass to the old Bandon Cheese Factory. After discussing various individual areas within the AR zone, the City Council decided against making any recommendations to the Planning Commission regarding amendments to the zone. The matter was decided on a 4 to 3 vote, with Councilors Drew, Powell, and Tiffany voting in favor of having the Planning Commission consider possible amendments, with Councilors Briscoe, Claassen, and Procetto, and Mayor Schamehorn voting in opposition.
