EARTHQUAKE AND TSUNAMI PREPAREDNESS WORKSHOP
Governor Kulongoski has proclaimed April 2009 to be Earthquake and Tsunami Awareness month in Oregon and encourages all Oregonians to join in this observance.
Oregon has suffered considerable damage from two moderate earthquake events in 1993 and a distant tsunami from Alaska in 1964. Scientific evidence indicates that Oregon is at risk for much larger and potentially more damaging earthquake associated with the Cascadia Subduction Zone that is expected to generate strong ground shaking and a destructive tsunami.
Emergency management experts from the Department of Geology and Mineral Industries (DOGAMI) will be offering a free EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS WORKSHOP concerning earthquakes and tsunamis in Bandon, on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, from 7 - 9 PM, at "The Barn."
Everyone is invited, and Door Prizes will be offered!
